Abana bamwe bavukana cyangwa bakagira ubumuga bakiri bato, ibintu bikunze gutera impaka n’amatsiko mu miryango myinshi. Abaganga bavuga ko ubumuga buturuka ku mpamvu zitandukanye, kandi ko akenshi butaba bushingiye ku makosa y’ababyeyi gusa.

OMS ivuga ko hafi 6% by’abana bavuka ku isi baba bafite ibibazo bavukanye na byo, kandi 94% by’ibibazo bikomeye biboneka cyane mu bihugu bikiri mu nzira y’amajyambere.
Mu Rwanda, binyuze mu nzego zita ku buzima zirimo RBC, zishimangira akamaro ko kwisuzumisha mbere no mu gihe cyo gutwita, gukingirwa no gufata indyo yuzuye, kwirinda ibiyobyabwenge n’imirimo ivunanye ndetse n’ibindi bishobora gufasha umubyeyi kubyara umwana udafite ubumuga.
